The
Metcalfe Charitable Trust
The
Charity of William Harland Metcalfe, former Rector and Farmer of Everton
and Scaftworth founded 23rd February, 1946, was approved and established
as the above Trust on 7th December, 1960.
It
is managed by five Trustees (two of whom are nominated by the Parish
Council for a term of four years each) with the purpose of defraying the
charges and outgoings relating to the property owned by the Trust.
This includes the Institute, Playing Fields and properties which
produce rent income. Other
funds are applied for the benefit of the inhabitants of Everton and
Scaftworth, mainly in support of the sporting and leisure facilities
which are available to those inhabitants.
The
Trust Scheme is carefully managed jointly with the Metcalfe Recreation
Committee, who provide the day to day support for the user groups, and
the Trustees who look to preserve the capital which will see the
facilities available for the long term.
